Included with the sale is an alexander #8 mouthpiece. The pads and the comfy strap can be easily removed if they are not wanted. Also included are a comfy strap and three rubber valve lever pads. The compression on all valves seems very good, with a good pop each valve when one of its tubes is removed.

Finally, also included is a precious case, as shown in the photos. The mouthpiece receiver appears to take a euro shank and this alexander seems fit well into. The valve block and slide are from a Yamaha 661 while the leadpipe, bell section flare an alexander, apparently alexander 103. I had a technician install two joy key water valves to this horn, which help drain some automatically, though it is still necessary remove the slides all from tubes.

I am accustomed, however, to a horn which stands in bb, and the thumb trigger on this is not adjustable. The horn is now in its original configuration, standing f, which the standard setting used USA. One reason for the excellent high range may be that bore of tubing is slightly narrower than on a later Yamaha horn model which I normally play,.e. I tried two different approaches to change the thumb trigger stand in bb, but neither approach worked well.

The horn has an even response across all registers. The horn stands in the key of f, with thumb trigger engaging bb side. The later Yamaha horn model's have thumb triggers which are adjustable to stand either in f or bb. It is an excellent playing horn, but I have decided that it would be unwise to ask a brass technician attempt modify the thumb valve, so reluctantly sell horn.

This is a Yamaha HR 661 - alexander hybrid. The high range is easy and secure. This was the when I purchased horn a few years ago, through alexander brand plate had been removed from bell section. I find the pads more comfortable for my adult hand than plain valve levers.

A similar Yamaha-alexander hybrid, but with a valve cluster from HR 664, rather than this 661.
