The Holton H178 Farkas French Horn is a masterpiece of craftsmanship and sound, designed for the discerning professional musician. This horn, part of the esteemed Farkas series, is named after the legendary Hungarian horn player Le Farkas.

The Holton H178 Farkas French Horn features a .462" large bore, which provides a rich, full sound with excellent projection. The hand-hammered yellow brass bell, in a classic Farkas design, contributes to the horn's distinctive tone. The bell flare is also hand-lapped, ensuring a smooth transition between the bell and the lead pipe.

The lead pipe is made of hand-selected, high-grade yellow brass, which is drawn and shaped to provide optimal response and intonation. The valve sections are monel, offering excellent durability and resistance to corrosion. The valve casings are made of nickel silver, providing a smooth action and a bright, focused tone.

The hand-engraved valve caps and tuning slide rings add a touch of elegance to this already stunning instrument. The slide is made of yellow brass, with a nickel silver wire, and features a screw-together construction for easy maintenance and adjustment.

The Holton H178 Farkas French Horn is finished in a traditional lacquer, which not only protects the instrument but also enhances its aesthetic appeal. This horn is available in a variety of finishes, including silver plate, lacquer, and gold lacquer.

In conclusion, the Holton H178 Farkas French Horn is a testament to Holton's commitment to crafting high-quality instruments. Its large bore, hand-hammered bell, and meticulously crafted valve sections all contribute to a sound that is rich, full, and resonant. Whether you're a seasoned professional or an aspiring musician, this instrument is sure to inspire and delight.
