Entirely accurate. The Benge 5b kicked it off when the band director couldn't identify if/why was better or worse than a 5c.e. The sound is bold, yet not excessively dark. For years, i've supported the idea of branching out from Vincent Bach 3c/5c/7c monotony that predominated school band trumpet cornet sections.

Its a decent counterpart to the no-letter when switching from 7c, and its a great overall cornet mouthpiece!, the 5b, per the Bach mouthpiece manual, has a precise rim fairly large cup. The tone is vivid and full. Its not fuzzy or diffuse, but defined.

It could take an extra week in some cases. The shank opening is round as well. This example has very good silver plating as well, with various light nicks, micro scratches, and some other small dings. Fitting for this.

Umi said much the same: for trumpet cornet players who want a good all-around mouthpiece without too edge.
